The Chester Road Reapers Development Squad brought the fire to the Crypt today in a thrilling matchup against the Bradford Ice Wolves, putting on a showcase of fast-paced, high-octane hockey from the first puck drop to the final buzzer.

The energy in the rink was palpable—and it exploded just 39 seconds in when Jody Chambers rifled home the opening goal off a slick setup from Karl Jones, setting the tone for what would be a goal-packed performance. Jones wasted no time returning the favour, tucking one away himself at 06:10 with Chambers grabbing the assist—a dynamic duo that couldn’t be stopped all afternoon.

The scoring parade continued late in the first as defenceman Andy Jones jumped up into the play and lasered one past the Wolves’ netminder at 17:45, thanks to a surprise helper from goaltender Dave Meadows, who wasn’t just guarding the net—he was quarterbacking plays.

In the second period, the Reapers kept the pressure on. Rhys Williams snapped one in at 26:42 after a heads-up assist from Ste Shelley, followed by Bruce Morton finding the net at 29:05, assisted by the always-reliable Andy Jones.

And then came the third period—a masterclass in teamwork and execution.

Karl Jones grabbed his second at 44:48 (Chambers again with the feed), and Kieran O’Loan showed incredible finishing instincts with two quick goals at 46:03 and 49:18, set up by Noah Deverowe and Andy Jones respectively. Not to be outdone, Chambers buried his second of the game just 14 seconds later, with Bruce Morton playing provider.

The final goal came at 54:18, capping off an incredible team performance as Noah Deverowe got on the scoresheet with a composed finish, assisted by a well-placed pass from Ste Shelley.

Discipline was strong across the board, with only one penalty assessed—Adam Turner serving 2 minutes for slashing at 29:45.

Player of the Match: Jody Chambers – An absolute force on the ice, with two goals, two assists, and non-stop pressure from start to finish.

Coach’s Player of the Match: Noah Deverowe – A standout effort on and off the puck, capped with a goal and assist in a composed, confident performance.

This one was captained by Karl Jones, who led by example with two goals, a helper, and a relentless work ethic—exactly what you want from your captain in a development game.

Huge shoutout to Elliott Hale and George Kelly for stepping up and helping out on the bench—true team spirit in action.

And none of this happens without our amazing volunteers: to those running the clock, managing the penalty boxes, spinning the tunes, and handling the game sheet—you are the engine room behind the scenes. Thank you for keeping game day running smoothly.

And of course, a big thank you to the Bradford Ice Wolves for making the trip and icing a talented, determined side. Always a pleasure to face off with you, and we look forward to the next clash!

This wasn’t just a development game—it was a declaration. The next wave of Reapers talent is here, and they’re coming in hot.
